Markers To HTML Tutorial

Basic Usage

  1. Open Premiere Pro and a sequence with at least one sequence marker.
  2. Go to Windows > Extensions > Markers To HTML and select it.
  3. Select the Image Quality.
  4. Select Create HTML and the export location.
  5. Once complete select Yes in the pop up to open the HTML in your default browser.
  6. The HTML file and images will be saved at your chosen export location.

Step by Step Usage

  1. Open Premiere Pro and a sequence with at least one sequence marker.
  2. Go to Windows > Extensions > Markers To HTML and select it.
  3. The extension will open with the UI as shown in the image above. The extension can be docked and saved to a workspace like any other panel.
  4. If a project and sequence are open the data fields in the UI will be completed.
  5. If the currently active sequence has changed or is different to the one identified by the data fields select the sequence refresh icon to gather data from the currently active sequence. It can be helpful to check how many sequence markers exist in your active sequence.
  6. Select the Image Quality from the dropdown menu. Choose from High (1920x1080), Medium (960x540), Low (480x270) and Extra Low (128x72). The quality of the images will have an effect on the size of the exported HTML file.
  7. Check the Estimated HTML Size, especially if you wish to send the exported HTML file via email.
  8. Select the green Create HTML button.
  9. Select the export location from the Finder/Windows Explorer window that pops up. On Windows this may happen in the background so keep an eye out for it.
  10. Wait for the images and HTML file to be created. You should see the current time indicator/playhead move through your markers.
  11.  Depending on the number of markers it should take between 5 and 30 seconds to display a "HTML created successfully" message. As a rough guide I run a 60 marker, 1920x1080 sequence in about 16 seconds on my pretty averagely specced laptop.
  12. Once complete you will have a folder named after the active sequence in your desired location. Inside this folder will be the HTML file and an Images folder containing all your high res images.

FAQs

Can the Markers To HTML extension be customised for our specific needs?
Yes. If you or your business need any custom alterations/additions email info@creativeworkflowsolutions.com with your requirements and I'll be in touch.

Is there a limit to the number of markers that will be exported?
Not that I've found. It's really down to time and computer resources.

Can we customise the content and look of the exported HTML file?
At this stage no. It is something I'll look into for future versions.

Can we set the export location to a known location or to a relative location such as alongside the project file?
At this stage no. It is something I'll look into for future versions.

How do I know how far through the process the extension is?
You should see the current time indicator/playhead move through the sequence markers in the timeline. If the computer/premiere can't keep up this may not happen. I may look into building a progress bar for future versions.

Notes
The extension hasn't been tested with non landscape footage or with footage larger than 4K.
